ROCKINGHAM IN CAR VIDEO & DIRECTIONS
The driver below can’t hold the wheel in the correct way. He could do with some track day instruction from the mighty Andrew Bentley (plug!). If you can and have a track day video from Rockingham, please send it to us.
ROCKINGHAM TRACKDAY INFORMATION
Rockingham race circuit is another great setting for track days. It is a truly unique track due to the large tri-oval that circles the ‘road’ course. The ‘normal’ International Circuit is quite tight and twisty and will be enjoyed by more technical track day drivers.
Graceland’s is probably my favourite corner, a medium-fast left hander with a small crest that pushes the car into over steer. Some of the other corners at Rockingham can seem tedious, but they are great for sorting your slow corner technique, where so much time can be lost.
Track days at Rockingham run fairly infrequently, so book when you get the opportunity and experience this 50,000 seater stadium race track.
HISTORY: Rockingham was constructed in 1999 on a 300-acre site not far from Corby. The circuit held a few CART races, but since hasn’t really had another large scale meeting. The circuit is now mainly used for corporate events, national race meetings and track days.
SUMMARY: Rockingham is a respectable venue for track days. Not the fastest or most exciting, but it is good for improving your technique. It also has an ample amount of run-off, which will put your mind at rest.
