SPA TRACKDAY INFORMATION
A track day at Spa-Francorchamps is the Holy Grail to most circuit drivers. Take a lap around the 4.3 miles of super fast bends, long straights and undulating tarmac and you will see why.
Infamous bends such as Eau Rouge and Raidillon, the magnificently steep flat out(ish) section where you feel like you’re about to take off at the crest, requires a build up in bravery and knowledge of the track. You must get Eau Rouge exactly right as the long Kemmel Straight follows it - a bad exit means losing valuable time.
The next favourite for brave track day drivers at Spa is the Blanchimont turn, one of the most formidable of any corner. There is less run off at Blanchimont and so it has been the scene of many large crashes throughout the years.
HISTORY: The first race was held at Spa Francorchamps in 1922, with the famous 24 hour endurance race beginning in 1924. The track has been changed numerous times from the 9.3 mile circuit of the 20’s to the current 4.3 mile layout. Spa is still seen as a long track, compared to many of the worlds modern circuit.
SUMMARY: Spa is the best circuit in the world. If you get the opportunity of a track day at Spa-Francorchamps, grab it with both hands and be first on the circuit. You will not be disappointed.
